The 8 Limbs of Yoga

Some of will know, some of you will not, that there are 8 limbs of a Yoga practice, of which the Asana (the physical postures we do in class) are actually number 3 on that list !

Most people are drawn to their yoga mat by the physical practice, we do the yoga by making shapes with our bodies and then discover the rest along the way.

I was no different, it was the physical practice of yoga that I discovered first

When I first started Yoga I wasn't really into the whole mind body connections stuff, I was an anorexic and gym addict told that my current lifestyle would kill me if I continued and I should try yoga ! I very much looked at it as a way to still exercise but in a slightly slower paced environment that would somehow still help me loose weight and look better.... boy how that has changed !

Yes the practice comes with it's physical benefits but it's so much more.

While the practice of yoga can indeed increase physical strength and flexibility and aid in calming the mind, what’s the point if we’re still rigid, weak and stressed-out in day-to-day life?

I love the whole experience of yoga nowadays and to understand that being a Yogi is a whole way of life and in a way, it's a lifestyle that just suits me, it's been well easy to adapt into my way of living, I've had enough aggression and negativity to last me a lifetime so the transformation into accepting myself and connecting with myself and just being a nice person is all I need :) I'm not saying I'm doing it all right and I'm an enlightened guru I'm just doing my best and that's all you can do.

" you cannot always control what goes on outside, but you can always control what goes on inside" not my quote but I like it !
